Kristin Boese nominated for ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards 2010

Nine-times Kitesurf World Champion and KB4Girls World Tour founder is up for the Female Nominee

TAMPA/LONDON/FORTALEZA, October 1, 2010: German sports model and kiteboarding poster girl Kristin Boese has received a nomination for the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards 2010 for the Female nominees category.
"I am extremely honored and humbled to have been nominated for the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Award. The nomination came as a big surprise for me, especially since it is the first time that a kitesurfer has been shortlisted for the award. I feel like the nomination is not only an amazing recognition for myself but also for the sport of kiteboarding, especially since it is so new to the family of sailing. I am very much looking forward to attending the award ceremony and ISAF annual meeting in Greece." says Kristin Boese
Earlier this year Boese secured her mark in the kiteboarding history by being recognized by Guinness World Records™ for the most world championships attained by a woman athlete.
Mauricio Toscano, president of the Professional Kite-board Riders Association (PKRA), said: "Kristin Boese is an extremely talented athlete. She has competed in the PKRA Kiteboarding World Tour since 2002 and through the years she has become an icon in the kiteboarding world, by conquering more World titles than anyone else. As the PKRA world tour has always focused on promoting both the sport of kiteboarding and the riders, it is great to see this kind of success story."
Earlier this year the German sports model started the KB4Girls World Tour reaching out to aspiring kiteboarders worldwide and strongly supporting the sport of kiteboarding.
"Kristin's generosity in constantly wanting to encourage and teach other women kitesurfers around the world gives us an amazing opportunity to learn new skills from a world-class female athlete. Thanks Kristin!" said coordinator Nicolea Paul, of WAChickKiters Network, Western Australia.
Next to supporting female kiteboarders with the KB4girls events she has also made it her goal to help protect the worlds' beaches and oceans that are not only so important for every kiteboarder, but to the entire world population. She partnered with the Surfrider Foundation Europe to glean educational practices and materials to use in her clinics.
Xavier Giamporcaro, chef de projet partenariats et développement, Surfrider Foundation Europe, said: "KB4girls and Surfrider Foundation Europe join forces to keep the ocean clean. Created 20 years ago, SFE is a European NGO dedicated to defending, saving, improving and managing in a sustainable manner the ocean, coastline, waves and the people who enjoy them".
Boese also is among the athlete ambassadors for the Munich 2018 Olympic Games bid and is also backing the bid by the International Kiteboarding Association (IKA) to have the sport included in the program for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
She is joined in the Olympic campaign by Sir Richard Branson, himself an avid kiteboarder, and appeared at his annual BVI Kite-Jam event. She is planning to accompany him on his next attempt at an English Channel crossing.
Interested in humanitarian issues as well the Germany athlete together with Linda Argila just held the first DREAM EXTREME fundraising event in the Hamptons/NY this past weekend which raised well over $125,000.00 that was donated to STEPS and The Retreat, two local programs that work to supply shelter and help for victims of domestic violence. This event solidly proved that twinning kiteboarding with fundraising can prove a successful partnership and was funded.
A strong role model for her sport, Boese has done an excellent job promoting kite-boarding around the world and reaching out to the sailing environment.

TAMPA/LONDON/BERLIN, August 3rd: Nine-time women's kiteboarding world champion Kristin Boese is backing up the IKA's Olympic campaign to have the sport included in the sailing program for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Kristin Boese says: "I believe that kiteboarding would be the perfect addition to the Olympic Sailboat classes. It is spectacular, transports a young and dynamic image and offers huge potential as a media and spectator sport."

"Through its beauty and excitement kiteboarding has the power to reach out to millions of people around the world and inspire them - a message that I am more than happy to support." Boese adds.

The IKA too fervently believes that the discipline of kiteboarding should be included within the Olympic Sailing Competition from 2016 onwards and starts its Olympic campaign with an amazing array of ambassadors. Boese is joined by personalities like Virgin Chairman Sir Richard Branson, Venture Capitalist Bill Tai, 2-time Olympic Medalist Michael Gebhard and many more.

Richard Branson, an avid kiteboarder himself, who hosted the first annual "Kite Jam" event on his private Necker Island earlier this year says: "Kiteboarding is a fun and spectacular sport that I think would make a tremendously exciting addition to the Olympic Games."

Markus Schwendtner, Executive Secretary of the IKA states: "It is important for us to showcase that kiteboarding is a worldwide movement with the support of personalities from in- and outside the sport.
Die neunfache Weltmeisterin liegt beim Palmolive Kitesurf World Cup auf Platz vier

(St. Peter-Ording 19.07.10). Die neunfache Weltmeisterin Kristin Boese kommt beim Palmolive Kitesurf World Cup immer besser in Schwung.

Beim Palmolive Kitesurf World Cup starten 115 Teilnehmer aus 22 Nationen.

(St. Peter-Ording 24.07.10). Fantastisches Freestyle-Finale beim Palmolive Kitesurf World Cup.

Kiteboarding Pros meet Surfrider Foundation Ocean Initiatives at the PKRA World Cup in Hua Hin/Thailand

High resolution photos of the event are available here: (http://www.kb4girls.com/press/press-area/press-pictures.html)!
TAMPA/LONDON/PERTH, March, 22nd 2010: As a great eco-citizen weekend of global scale, dealing with the problem of macro-waste and dedicated to the protection of our coast, our lakes and our rivers the Ocean Initiatives weekend 2010 took part this past weekend from march,18th to 21st. Initiated by the “Surfrider Foundation Europe” the event motivated hundreds of beach clean ups around the world with the goal to educate local people and kids about the pollution of our waterways and to raise awareness. Ocean Initiatives has been organized for the past 15 years and finds more and more supporters every year.
A great example was set by some of the PKRA world cup riders and the local staff of the Intercontinental Hua Hin Resort Kiteboarding World Cup in Thailand when they all joined the Ocean Initiatives weekend with a beach clean up at 8.00 am on Saturday the 20th of march. While the meeting point was the competition site, a large area of Hua Hin’s beach was cleaned when a total of 33 motivated beach-cleaners split into 2 groups to collect trash to the left and the right of the world cup area. Even a waste truck followed the diligent trash collectors to relieve them of their heavy burdens whenever their bags were filled up.
With an immense oversupply and usage of plastic bags presenting a big problem in Thailand and most parts of Asia it was no surprise that many plastic bags were collected during the clean up. Quickly it became clear that straws and plastic cups are also a serious threat to Thailand’s environment as they were the main trash items collected along the beach. It seems that while Thai coconuts are a delight in one way they are a curse in another as plastic straws are used for the countess number of coconuts consumed.
The Hua Hin clean up was also supported by the mayor of the town who came to the beach to thank everyone that had joined. In his speech he made clear to the local people how important it is to keep oceans and beaches clean and to take actions towards a cleaner environment. Both, the mayor and the riders that had joined the clean up set a great example for the people in Hua Hin and might just make a difference to the future of the town and their pollution problems.
Co-organizing this clean up marked Kristin Boese’s first project for the “Surfrider Foundation Europe” of which she officially became an ambassador just 2 weeks ago. Becoming very aware of the problems that the pollutions of oceans, beaches and rivers poses during her travels around the world Kristin wanted to help the environment as much as she possibly could and when launching KB4girls, a non-profit clinic tour for female kiteboarders, put a lot of thought into how to support female kiteboarders and the environment at the same time. Getting together with “Surfrider Foundation Europe” offered a great opportunity for both parties.
Kristin Boese says: “I was looking for a way to do something positive for our oceans and beaches with KB4girls and as I had heard of the great work of the Surfrider Foundation I got in contact with them to see how I could help. From the beginning they were very open and I am honored to have become an ambassador for such a great Foundation. While the beach clean up in Thailand was my first project with them, Surfrider Foundation Europe will supply educational materials for all our KB4girls events and in return we will donate the registration fees to them. I am very positive that together we will raise a lot of awareness about the water pollution around the world and hopefully make kiteboarders and local people change their environmentally unhealthy patterns.”
Xavier Giamporcaro, Partnership and Development project manager of Surfrider Foundation Europe: “Surfrider Foundation Europe’s aim is to defend oceans, coastline, waves and the people who enjoy them. As a kiteboarder, Kristin Boese is well aware of water pollutions as she spends most of her time in the water. Joining Surfrider as and ambassador, Kristin will support our educational campaigns and help us keep the oceans clean by raising awareness on the beaches around the world. We at Surfrider warmly welcome her!”
A thanks goes to everyone who was involved in the clean up and made a difference to the beach of Hua Hin and the local people.

Kristin Boese sets historic kite-boarding record

Mit NEUN errungenen Weltmeistertiteln wird Boese ein Guiness-Buch Rekord zugesprochen.

TAMPA/JOHANNESBURG/PERTH 14. Dezember 2009:
